Port Orford

Port Orford is the westerly most town in the continental United States and just celebrated it's 150 year anniversary making it the oldest town on the Oregon coast. Also unique to Port Orford is it's Port. Due to the rough seas boats are not parked in the water, rather they are lifted onto trailers and parked on the dock. There is only one other 'dolly dock' in the USA located in southern California. A look into the daily lives of local fishermen can be experienced on a good weather afternoon by visiting the port and watching the fishing boats unload their daily catch of Tuna, crab and many other types of seafood including exotic varieties shipped live to China town in San Francisco
